A fashion film is not a product video with nice music. It's a piece that tells a brand's story through fashion: concept, direction, models, movement and color. Here I explain what it is, how I produce it and why it turns a garment into desire.

I've spent years making fashion films for stores and fashion brands that bet on concept: businesses that work with highly recognized labels and understand that a good video doesn't sell a garment, it sells a way of seeing the world. I've directed pieces with professional models, taking care of every detail on set so the brand feels on a par with what it represents.

What a fashion film is (and what it isn't)

The fashion film is a format halfway between the commercial and the short film. Its goal is not to show the catalog, but to build an atmosphere around the brand. The difference from other formats is clear:

Both have their place, but only one positions a brand as a reference. If a store wants to stand out from the competition, the fashion film is the tool.

It all starts with the concept

Before turning on a camera, we define what we want the viewer to feel. That concept shapes everything else: the location, the casting, the wardrobe, the color palette, the pace of the edit and the music. When the concept is strong, the video stands on its own; when there isn't one, it shows no matter how good the camera is.

Professional models and direction

Fashion lives on the body in motion and on attitude. Working with professional models completely changes the result: they know how to move in front of the camera, hold a gaze and convey the attitude the brand needs. My job as a director is to guide that energy and create a set where everything —light, crew, talent— pulls toward the same concept.

The aesthetic: camera, editing and color

I shoot with professional camera systems to get an image with cinematic texture and the maximum latitude in post-production. Then, in the edit I build the pace, and in the color grade I give it its definitive visual identity. Color is often what separates a decent fashion video from one that looks like a major campaign.

If you want to dig deeper into this part, I wrote a guide on color grading with DaVinci Resolve and how it transforms a video.

Who is a fashion film for?

It works especially well for concept-driven boutiques and fashion stores, fashion e-commerce, emerging labels and brands that want to make a leap in perception. You don't need to be a global brand: you need to have something to say and want to say it well.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a fashion film cost?

It depends on the concept: number of models, locations, crew and length of the piece. Tell me about your brand and the idea, and I'll put together a custom quote.

Do you handle models, location and crew?

Yes. I can take care of the entire production: casting of professional models, location, art direction, filming, editing and color. You focus on your brand.

Do you work with stores that sell well-known brands?

Yes. Much of my work is for stores and businesses that represent top-tier labels and want visual communication that lives up to what they sell.

How long does it take to be ready?

A fashion film usually takes a few weeks from pre-production to delivery, depending on the complexity. When I send the quote, we also agree on the timeline.

Do you have a fashion brand with something to say?

Tell me the concept and we'll create a fashion film that takes it to another level.
