The image starts on the shoot. Recording well —with the right camera, the right light and post-production in mind— is what gives you room to make a video look cinematic. This is my workflow.
Why I shoot with Sony
I work with the Sony camera system (the FX3 / A7S III family). These are cameras with exceptional low-light performance and a sensor that holds a huge amount of information, which lets me record in log profiles and have complete freedom afterwards in color.
Light changes everything
A good camera won't save bad light. I take care of the lighting on every set —natural or artificial— because it's what defines volume, skin and mood. The difference between an amateur video and a professional one almost always comes down to that.
Shooting with color in mind
I record in log or RAW whenever the project allows it. That footage looks flat at first, but it holds the maximum detail for color grading. Shooting without thinking about post-production is throwing quality in the trash.
Equipment, set and direction
Beyond the camera: the right lenses, stabilization, audio and an organized set where every take has intention. I direct the shoot so nothing is left to chance and we make the most of our time.
Brand, product or event
You don't shoot a meticulously crafted brand piece the same way as a live event where there are no second takes. I adapt the equipment and the approach to what each project needs.
